Although the amount of snow hasn't been as much as in previous winters and the temperatures havn't been as low we have been enjoying sleging, skating and walking through the forest.

The small chapel in Kučeř has recently been repainted by talented local artist Michaela Medley who also sign wrote our accommodation after renovation was completed.

Zvíkov Castle

Walnut Tree Farm, in the quiet village of Kučeř, is situated within the heart of South Bohemia near the picturesque town of Pisek.

The Farm consists of the main house, together with two large barns one of which has been converted in to spacious accommodation, carp pond and animal paddocks which have been landscaped and planted for guests to relax in.

We offer B&B accommodation with large family rooms and ensuite facilities in an idyllic holiday destination.

Kučeř is a small, attractive village which is close to the Orlik Reservoir. The castles of Zvikov and Orlik overlook the reservoir and a ferry opperates throughout the summer between the castles. The reservoir is fed by the Otava and Vltava rivers and the location is ideal for anglers as it is well stocked with Carp, Catfish and many other spiecies.

Whether your interests are fishing, cycling, walking, photography, horse-riding or simply sightseeing and visiting towns and castles then the area is ideal with an abundance of woodland, lakes and enchanting villages to explore.

For the more adventurous among you there is bungee jumping available from a nearby bridge with a 100m drop to the river beneath at weekends over the summer!

Orlik Reservoir

The Orlik Reservoir is one of the best fishing waters in the Czech Republic, it is very well stocked and the variety of species makes it possible to use many different techniques. The Reservoir is best known due to catches of Catfish and Carp and other predatory species. In 2002, 117,182 fish were registered as caught and their total weight was 213,124kg: Carp: 62,532, Catfish: 731, Zander: 5,954 and Pike: 1,908.

The banks of the Reservoir are approx. 300km in length and characterised by steep forested slopes with rock outcrops and small beaches which make ideal spots from which to cast. The Reservoir is 2,732ha in total and runs 68km along the Vltava river, 7km along the Luznice river and 22km along the Otava river. Of this area there is 2,300ha available to anglers.
Due to the size of this water the use of boats is recommended. Fishing is permitted in the Reservoir all year round but predatory species are protected from 1st January to 15th June.
